にも関わらず

  • although, though は同じ意味だが、thoughのほうがインフォーマル。
    強調したいときは”even though”
  • 「despite」の方が「in spite of」よりもやや丁寧な表現となり、アメリカ人は「despite」の方を多く使う

    • I walked home by myself, although I knew that it was past midnight.
    • Despite the heavy snow, I have to go to the office.
